Nationwide Delivery – Soils, Aggregates & Construction Waste Management
RHS Chelsea Show Garden supremo Gregory has designed The Savills Garden and his company, Landform Consultants, will be in charge of the build of this and a second showpiece, The Samaritans’ Listening Garden. This second garden has been designed by Darren Hawkes, who returns to the Show having previously won Gold in 2017 and 2015.
Both gardens are designed and built on a bedrock and foundation of recycled materials.
For the Savills Garden, the recycling revolution is going a step further with its introduction of cement-free, ultra-low carbon mortar as the bedding. MCM were on site at the early build-up stages to deliver hand-selected, trialled and compliant blends of reject sand to combine with the cem-free mortar. Delivered in bags for logistical ease and flexibility, the materials will help Mark and his Landform team in the earliest stages of preparation over the next few days.
As part of the groundwork for The Samaritans’ Garden, MCM have supplied bagged Type 1 recycled aggregate in volume which has been used as a sub-base for compaction and creation of the pathways and hard-standing elements within the design.
Designed by Darren Hawkes, who has recently qualified as a listening volunteer, the garden is a special opportunity to celebrate the charity’s 70 years of supporting people. A remodelled version of Samaritans’ Listening Garden will be permanently relocated at a Samaritans branch.
