Graduates welcomed into MCM's construction team

Building on an already broad base of experience within the MCM team, we have welcomed two new graduate employees to the Sales Office in Surbiton.

Joining us in 2023 as a permanent employee, Ciaran Smith, 22, is our Sales and Logistics Administrator.  Alongside Ciaran in a similar Sales support role, Omar Matthias joins us for a third summer as an under-graduate.

Practical Industry Experience

Ciaran Smith – Sales and Logistics Administrator

Graduating from the University of Portsmouth with a degree in Computer Animation and Visual Effects, Ciaran brings his digital and creative skills to the team.  Adding the practical experience from within a busy sales environment, he assists with processing orders, liaising with customers and suppliers and pricing materials and disposals by phone and email.

Omar is already familiar with MCM. Returning to the University of Leeds to complete his Microbiology degree in the new term, Omar is the eldest son of MCM company founder Jason Matthias and Managing Director Shazna.  Omar returns for his third summer and has grasped the internal and external communications, working well as part of the team and keen to support the business as it continues to grow and reach new sectors.

“There’s always someone willing to explain how the different sectors of the industry work, as well as the more technical product information.  There’s a really good relationship we have with customers and suppliers and I enjoy speaking to them, arranging transport and finding the best way forward.”

Both Ciaran and Omar have added to the team dynamic alongside our seasoned professionals, some of whom have been leading the UK construction material supply sector for more than 20 years themselves. Our graduates and new starters’ development is key to the company’s ongoing successes within the UK construction, landscape and civil engineering sectors.  The management team is incredibly supportive and is looking to develop new careers and personal enrichment as the business moves forward.
